My name is Kris Dougherty. I have spent the past nine years tutoring and acting
as an educational consultant/parent advocate at IEP meetings. As a former sixth
grade teacher in Jefferson County I have taught all subject areas. Since leaving
the classroom my primary focus has been working with middle and high school students
in math. However, I am also open to supporting students in other subject areas during
the school year.
Of primary importance to me is adapting my teaching style to meet
the needs of you or your student. This is often not an option in a traditional classroom
setting. My years of experience have taught me that many students find success in
the classroom through alternative instructional methods or with specific support.
I
possess a strong background in working with students, both adolescents and adults,
who are attention different, gifted, learning disabled, or with other needs. I hold
a B.A. In Psychology (1992) and a M.A. in Information and Learning Technologies (2001)
from the University of Colorado at Denver. I completed my Teacher Certification
Program through Metro State College of Denver (1998) and I am a Licensed Professional
Teacher in Colorado. I am currently pursuing a M.A. in Psychology at Regis University
with an emphasis on Adolescence and Teen Life Coaching.
I look forward to hearing
from you and please contact me with any questions.
